SIGMA to Release F1.2 Ultra-Large Aperture Prime Lens for Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras
According to foreign sources, SIGMA is gearing up to release a new F1.2 ultra-large aperture prime lens at the end of March. This lens is said to be suitable for full-frame mirrorless cameras, although the detailed specifications are still unknown at this time.
This upcoming release will mark SIGMA’s second full-frame mirrorless camera lens with an aperture of F1.2. Currently, the only lens in their lineup with this maximum aperture is the 35mm F1.2 DG DN | Art. With this new addition on the horizon, speculation is growing about what the new lens could be. It is possible that the rumored lens could be either a 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art or an 85mm F1.2 DG DN | Art, but this remains to be confirmed.
While the exact specs of the lens are still a mystery, it has been rumored that it will have a larger aperture than F1.4 and will be designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless cameras. The lens is expected to have autofocus functionality and will be released in Sony E and LEICA L mounts.
Given the weight of the 35mm F1.2 DG DN | Art, which is quite hefty at 1,090g, it can be assumed that this new lens may also be on the heavier side. However, in an age of rapidly advancing technology, fans are hopeful for some surprises from SIGMA that could potentially change the perception of their lenses as “BIGMA.”
For now, all eyes are on SIGMA as they prepare to unveil their latest creation at the end of March. Stay tuned for more updates and in the meantime, let’s wait and see what this new F1.2 ultra-large aperture prime lens has in store for photographers. Source: Sony Alpha Rumors.
