Unwrap the Mystery Behind the New Trending Game “Nothing”
Another inexplicable free game has recently appeared on the Steam platform. Its name is “Nothing”, which in English means “nothing, nothing, or nothing”. On the surface, it looks similar to minimalist games such as “Click to Ten.” It’s still a prank, but once again, many players (including me) once again felt the ideas that the developers wanted to convey through the game, and understood a little bit of the philosophy of life through this uninteresting game.
Through search, you can easily find two other similar games of the same name on Steam. Their store screenshots are quite similar to this one, both of which are based on minimalist text presentation. The difference is that this game is free, and the previous ones are $1 coin-priced games.
But what is “Nothing”, really? The game is not like other scam games that simply tell you “press any key to start “doing nothing””. It is more honest than any family member, friend, colleague, superior, boss, or politician you have ever met in your life. “Nothing” requires you to do just one thing: “Don’t do anything.”
When you press the button, the timer starts. It is a game with a placement mechanism that accumulates time. Just like your game experience, you need time to accumulate. The same is true for the wisdom of life.
And if you press any button, even if you just want to press the Printscreen key, or Alt + Tap to switch windows, the game will be over. Finally, the system displays again: You spent 5 seconds doing nothing. The game tells you the accumulated results while subtly sarcastic.
Yes, this game requires only one second of understanding to know that there will never be a winner under the rules of this game. Luckily, it’s just a game, and it really doesn’t matter if you win or lose.
The idle game “Nothing” is now available on Steam for free, and a certain player’s current record seems to be 2 hours and 19 minutes of doing nothing. Will you beat it?
