Void Interactive, the developer behind the highly anticipated tactical shooter game Ready or Not, recently experienced a major cyberattack that resulted in the theft of approximately 4TB of data, including the entire source code of the game. The studio confirmed the breach in a letter to Kotaku, stating that while the hack did occur, it was not as severe as initially feared.
Despite the breach, Void Interactive assured that no user or employee information was compromised during the attack. The hackers were able to access screenshots of upcoming projects and some of the game’s source code, but the studio emphasized that no sensitive data was leaked.
The studio attributed the hacking incident to a vulnerability in the TeamCity cloud service interface, describing it as a “critical vulnerability.” Void Interactive stated that an investigation into the breach is ongoing, and they are working to strengthen their cybersecurity measures to prevent future attacks.
This news comes as a blow to fans eagerly awaiting the release of Ready or Not, but Void Interactive remains committed to securing their systems and ensuring the integrity of their game development process. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
