Social Impact: EU passes supply chain law

The European Parliament has agreed to introduce a supply chain law aimed at promoting human rights worldwide.

The law is particularly aimed at large companies that are forced to respond to human rights violations such as child or forced labor.

Originally, companies with more than 500 employees and a turnover of at least 150 million euros were supposed to be affected by the directive.

However, after negotiations, the thresholds were raised to 1,000 employees and 450 million euros in sales, with a transition period of five years being provided.
