Due to the abolition of the additional cost privilege from July 2024, tenants are faced with the question: It’s also possible Television without cable connection? The change means that the TV connection is no longer automatically included in the additional costs of the rental agreement. As a tenant, you then have to take care of it yourself and look for suitable alternatives. And it no longer has to be the classic cable in the wall that makes TV content accessible. We show you how you can watch TV without a cable connection.
Television without cable connection: GigaTV Net – IPTV from Vodafone
GigaTV Net combines the usual television with modern streaming services. Content can be consumed both at home on multiple TV devices and on the go via smartphone or tablet. And a cable connection is no longer necessary. The whole thing can be used via DSL or LTE internet.

Optionally, you can also book Netflix or Apple TV for an additional charge.

Television without cable: reception via satellite or antenna
If you want to watch TV without a cable connection, TV reception via satellite or antenna are alternative options. Common TV channels are broadcast via Satellite TV Transferred freely and unencrypted, so as a user you can watch programs from abroad as well as domestic ones. The Astra satellite is usually used, with which you can receive around 250 channels without a monthly fee. For pay TV or private programs in HD, you can book the monthly subscription with HD+ for 6.00 euros or the annual package for 75.00 euros.
The complex and expensive purchase and installation of a satellite system speaks against television via satellite. You should definitely ask the landlord beforehand whether assembly is even permitted.
Last but not least, you can watch digital via DVB-T2 HD Antenna television received. Using an indoor or roof antenna, you can get around 20 channels on the screen unencrypted. The costs for this are already covered by the broadcasting fee. If you also want to receive private programs in HD, you can do so via Freenet TV from 7.99 euros per month.*
Television with cable connection
Would you rather stick with the classic cable connection? Then you can get “TV Connect” from Vodafone, for example, as a basic TV program with over 90 channels starting at 6.99 euros.* However, the price depends on where you live. It’s best to check the exact available offers beforehand. The offer can be expanded, for example, with Giga TV, so that you would also have access to pay TV channels.
