Figure 01 is one of the humanoid robots to keep an eye on in the future, along with Optimus, a similar machine developed by Tesla, the car company of which Elon Musk is CEO.
The company that produces Figure 01 is called Figure, and is close to closing a financing round of 500 million dollars led by OpenAI and Microsoft, two of the leading companies in the development of artificial intelligence.
Generative AI, capable of understanding natural language, allows Figure 01 to act on the order given to it, namely to prepare a cup of coffee. Added to this is machine learning which allowed the humanoid robot to delicately handle and insert a small capsule into the coffee machine. All through a training of just 10 hours in which Figure 01 learned from its mistakes and corrected them when they occurred again.
Figure, a company based in California, has already signed an agreement with the car manufacturer BMW: its robots will be used in the assembly line of German cars.
