The Italian startup that helps find work thanks to AI. How Joinrs works

In a scenario in which the job market and the search for personnel have evolved, moving from paper to the web in the space of a few years, despite digitalisation, for millennials and generation Z online adverts are long, not very intuitive and take too much time to be read, and they are not attractive. Not only. Young people looking for a job waste an average of eleven hours a week scrolling through adverts (CareerBuilder Research) which very often do not contain what is in line with one’s skills and professional aspirations.

What if an artificial intelligence algorithm was reading the job adverts? This is what Gabriele Giugliano thought together with Martina Mattone, Nicolò Bardi and Stefano Antonelli who founded Joinrs about a year ago.

Joinrs is an innovative solution to a concrete problem: the complexity and length of classic job adverts wastes a lot of time, time used to read dozens of lines of offers in order to identify the required characteristics and understand if that position is actually in line with one’s skills and aspirations.

Thanks to its AI algorithms, the startup is able to read advertisements in Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German for the user, understand and interpret the text, summarize it and quickly explain to job seekers why that position is in line with what he is looking for, also underlining with a simple and intuitive graphic design (a check list) what the main intersections between supply and demand are. All completely free for those looking for a job.

How Joinrs was born and what it does

But let’s take a step back. Joinrs is nothing other than the natural evolution of the startup Tutored, born in 2014 and dedicated to the world of university tutoring. Over time the company has evolved, and after the latest pivot, it has become a digital company that deals with talent recruiting.

After having consolidated its role as a point of reference in Italy in terms of digitalisation of personnel search activities, the startup has opened up to international markets to also offer its services to companies, students and junior job profiles in Great Britain, France , Germany, Spain and Portugal.

On 7 March 2023 Tutored changes its name to Joinrs and launches Joinrs AI, a new artificial intelligence model capable of synthetically reading, understanding and reprocessing job offers for the user to increase their effectiveness.

Why this choice? “We have chosen a new name to indicate, symbolically, a year zero in our entrepreneurial journey and more generally in the personnel search sector that we want to innovate with our proprietary AI”. Gabriele Giugliano, 32 years old, co-founder and CEO of Joinrs, tells us.

Where the name comes from, how the platform works

Why Joinrs? “Actually, we were inspired by the ‘new joiners’ which in American jargon are those who join a group for the first time or become part of a specific corporate context. After all, young people entering the world of work are the main target of our generative artificial intelligence platform.”

The startup quickly became the digital meeting point for students, recent graduates and junior profiles with companies looking for work. Generating 202 thousand applications in just under a year.

How does the platform work? “The mechanism is simpler than you might imagine: you just need to authenticate on the site or with the app by entering your qualification, the city you want to work in, and your skills. In just a few seconds, Joinrs’ AI finds the offers most compatible with the user’s profile among hundreds of job advertisements. All completely free of charge.”

The platform is able to analyze ads not only in Italian and English, but also in German, Portuguese, French and Spanish.

Joinrs numbers and objectives

The Italian startup currently has a community of over 650 thousand students, coming from around 350 universities, who use it to look for work. On the corporate side, from multinationals to SMEs, there are over 100 who use the platform and more than 2000 professional recruiters who use Joinrs to find and include the best talent. The countries in which it operates today are: Italy, Brazil, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal.

“In 2023, 202 thousand applications were produced, an increase of 100% compared to 2022. In January and February 2024, applications had already reached 105 thousand. The forecast is for 2024 to close with around one million applications, an exponential growth of 400% more than 2023″, specifies Giugliano.

Not only. Last November Joinrs was ranked among the top 10 startups in the world during the pitch contest of the Lisbon Web Summit 2023. It is the only Italian startup included in the list. “It was an incredible result that certifies the great growth of our creation, now also at an international level. We were first selected among the Top 105, and then we returned to the list of the 10 best startups in the world“.

The Joinrs team today is made up of 25 people, divided between the offices in Milan, Rome and London, the goal is to reach a staff of 40 people by 2024.

The startup is close to closing an important capital raising, which will be used for further international expansion into new countries around the world.
