At the African Championships in Egypt, the heavyweight colossus from the Democratic Republic of Congo is currently fighting for a ticket to the World Cup in Croatia, Denmark and Norway. But his team has now clearly missed the first match point.
Mvumbi and Co. clearly lost the quarter-final against Algeria 23:36 at the start of the knockout round on Tuesday. Now they only have the chance to reach fifth place in the placement games – Mvumbi has definitely not given up hope yet.

Handball cult star still hopes for a World Cup ticket

Circular Mvumbi caused a stir at the 2021 World Cup with his figure and his considerable skills, his follower numbers exploded, and NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal also became aware of the man with whom he was often compared – and had a meeting organized.
With the national team, Mvumbi narrowly missed qualifying for the 2023 World Cup in 2022, as Congo only finished seventh at the 2022 African Championships after losing a placement game after a seven-meter throw. Mvumbi, who weighs over 135 kilos, currently plays handball for Rouen in the fourth French league.
