Independiente Medellín did not have a pleasant visit to the El Alto Municipal stadium located at 4,090 meters above sea level. The Colombian team fell to Always Ready 2-0 in their debut in this Copa Sudamericana. Wesley Da Silva and Pablo Lima, against, the local goals
In the first half, Medellín handled the ball, but did not know how to use it while Always Ready dedicated itself to counterattacking or waiting for mistakes from the opponent for much of this half. The first clear chance would be from Héctor Cuellar who took a shot that barely touched the rival goal.
Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, the Bolivians found the imbalance with Wesley Da Silva who received a cross from the right from Adalid Terrazas and there the Brazilian attacker rose to send it to save with a header.
Already in the second half, Always Ready found the second on their account in a play where Marcelo Suárez managed to touch a center from the left and then the ball hit Pablo Lima and went inside the goal guarded by Eder Chaux.
Ten minutes later, Ayron del Valle wanted to go for the third in a play where the Colombian tried to place from mid-distance, but the ball barely went wide of the DIM goal.
In the 68th minute, Medellín had one of its few approaches with Diego Moreno who, after a corner kick, attempted the first volley, but the ball went well over the Bolivians’ goal.
Fifteen minutes from the end, Del Valle again wanted to go for his goal and attempted a mid-range shot that this time went over Chaux’s goal. At 84′, the Colombian, who was the most incisive in this part, had a goal disallowed for offside.
With this result, DIM is fourth in group A and on the next date they will face César Vallejo at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.
