There is a Brazilian champion in European volleyball. For the second year in a row, Olympic runner-up Ana Cristina won the strong Turkish women’s volleyball league with Fenerbahce. Just like last year, the team faced Eczacibasi, who are the club world champions. With 3-2 in the five-game final series, Fenerbahce secured their seventh Turkish championship title.
Fenerbahce and Eczacibasi had an exciting series in the Turkish League final. After two victories for each side in the initial games, the teams played the fifth and decisive game this Sunday (21). In front of their fans, Fenerbahce won 3-0, with scores of 25/18, 25/22 and 27/25 to guarantee the Istanbul team’s second consecutive title.
Starting in the match, Ana Cristina performed well to help Fenerbahce overcome the world champions. Highlight for the first set, where the Brazilian was the team’s highest scorer with five points. In the last part, Ana scored in decisive moments such as an ace when Eczacibasi led the set and a block in the penultimate point of the match, blocking the attack of Boskovic, the opponent team’s ace.
