A strike of Uber and 99 drivers already gathers protesters on the local track on Avenida Agamenon Magalhães, in Olinda, in front of the Classic Hall. Around 7am this Tuesday (26th), the time scheduled for the start of the protest, a few dozen cars were already lined up at the site.
According to Thiago Silva, president of the Association of Drivers and Motorcycle Freight Operators for Applications of Pernambuco (Amape), the demonstration will take shape throughout the morning. The intention, according to him, is do not cause road blockages that affect traffic in the area.
On social media, you can see videos of drivers parked there and promises of category membership. Several users are stating that they will go to the location to participate in the demonstration, which is peaceful and seeks to draw attention to the PL that regulates the activity of the categorypresented by the Federal Government at the beginning of the month.
The Recife Urban Transport and Traffic Authority (CTTU) stated that there are agents on site monitoring the demonstration. There is no congestion warning in the region at this time.

In mid-morning, the drivers left in a motorcade to the Legislative Assembly, with the support of many motorcycle delivery drivers and an electric trio. The action was accompanied by Military Police vehicles.
At the headquarters of the State Legislature, the category will deliver to state deputies a request for urgent withdrawal of the project, which must be sent to federal deputies and senators from Pernambuco.

As this is a national strike, there are also protests scheduled in other regions of the country, such as in Curitiba, in Paraná, Campo Grande, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and in Maceió, in Alagoas.
“The driver doesn’t want to pay 27.5% INSS, as we’ve been without any type of adjustment for eight years. What the driver wants is freedom to work and fair rates, at least R$2 per kilometer, more time, as platforms take up to 60% of the value of a trip”, said Thiago Silva, president of Amape.
“In addition, the project provides for the calculation of earnings, based on the hour worked, of R$ 32.09. Many of these professionals are already able to earn a higher amount, in various capitals of the country. Many fear the so-called white blockade, where platforms stop sending requests when the minimum is reached”, he added.
Another point of divergence is the mandatory representation of unions, together with the government and platforms. In the opinion of the president of AMAPE, the category does not feel represented by these institutions.
“There are no founding minutes, CNPJ, union charter or any other document that legitimizes these people, who participated in the GT in Brasília and closed a bad deal for the app driver. Therefore, unions do not represent us”, he pointed out.

In tests carried out by NE10 this Tuesday morning, there are drivers operating normally on the Uber and 99 apps in the central region of Recife, which indicates that not all professionals joined the strike.
Around 8am, ride requests were promptly responded to on the apps, with arrival at the boarding location expected to take just a few minutes. The price range for trips had little or no change.
