ITALIAN DEBUT – Finding a car that leaves you speechless today is not a given even in the golden and rarefied world of supercars, but in Gaydon, with the new Aston Martin Vantage, they certainly knew how to make the strings of emotion vibrate with taste and a sense of harmony. We had a clear impression of this when leafing through the first official images of the car last February, and confirmation arrived yesterday in Milan, under the soft green lights of an old shed of the former Caproni aeronautical workshops, an evocative theater of Italian “first”. of the “baby” racing car from the house across the Channel.
NOW IT’S MUCH MORE ELEGANT – Launched in 2019 and just updated, theAston Martin Vantage now winks at its big sister DB12, with a front perhaps less “bold”, but certainly more elegant than before, thanks to the return of the company’s typical grille which fills the full width of the bumper, on the sides of which there are two air intakes for cooling the brakes. The bodywork, otherwise, remains identical, with classic granturismo proportions and characteristics coda with the very thin light strip that follows the “arch” shape and the four exhaust cannons well integrated into the space speaker aerodynamic.
MORE RIGID AND MORE POWERFUL – Important news concerns the motor: il 4.0 V8 biturbo of derivation Mercedes-AMG it has gained two larger turbochargers, camshafts with a more “rapid” profile and a more powerful cooling system. INSIDE IS A HIGH-CLASS LIVING ROOM – It is also inspired by the DB12 dashboard, upholstered in fine leathers and hi-tech materials and with a descending trend towards the seats which makes the opulent interior more airy. But the most important innovation in the interior of theAston Martin Vantage is another, and it has to do with on-board technology: the new multimedia system, whose 10.3″ screen (no longer positioned at the top, but in the central console) no longer derives from the old MBUX Mercedes (partner technician of the company, of which it holds 3.4% of the shares) but was designed and developed “in-house”. Practical and all at your fingertips, i lots of physical buttons to manage the various on-board services they are neatly arranged on the sides of the tunnel, which houses the very short 8-speed automatic gearbox lever and the wheel with the engine start button (by turning the ring, however, you choose between the driving modes Wet, Sport, Sport Plus and Race).
A “JEWEL” FOR A VERY FEW – In short, with the update from which theAston Martin Vantage it has filled up with horsepower and elegance, closing the “hierarchical” gap with the larger DB12 (with which, moreover, it shares part of the mechanics). Excellent news, with a single (and predictable) downside: the price price list has increased of over 50,000 euros. But spend almost 213.000 eurofor those lucky enough to be able to afford a car like this, it won’t be a huge problem.
