It was not the first time that Luis Fercan I visited the Avalón Café in Zamora. In fact, it was already the third time that the Galician singer-songwriter stepped onto the stage of the veteran Zamora venue. However, on this occasion he did it to present the recently published “Lost postcards” (Calaverita, 24), an album with which the musician should break down unprecedented doors and with which, in the process, he motivated (on what was his new visit to the city), different expectations. Something confirmed with what was the first great achievement of Luis Fercan in the evening: ensuring that silence reigned in a place that had a good entrance.
A presence, his, accompanied only by acoustic guitar and a beautiful microphone that for many moments was precisely that: a mere decoration. Because the beautiful voice of the man from Santiago almost always appeared half a meter behind the microphone, protected by the welcoming atmosphere of the venue and the respectful silence of those present, thus avoiding artifice and instead opting for a commendable simplicity. Precisely, that torrent of emotions, shared openly and with equal delicacy and intensity, meant the second triumph of the night. It was a direct consequence of beautiful songs like “Frío al verte”, “El palmar”, “Florecer”, “Una sonido”, “Temple bar”, “110”, “Ahi back (fear in the sea)” or “Busco” , which actually doesn’t put him that far from Damien Rice or Iron & Wine.
The step of Luis Fercan It was recorded, above all, as a beautiful waste of feelings, realistic and credible, also empathetic and elegant, and not even the small attack of anxiety that stalked the artist (and that forced him to stop the concert for a few minutes) could break the magic. Because the last part of the concert, resumed after the mishap, kept all the previous qualities intact until certifying the charm of Luis Fercán’s passage through Zamora. A singer-songwriter with classic overtones, but with a specific tone and who managed to make even the most skeptical of the genre fall in love.
