British Columbia’s breakthrough on hard drugs: it will no longer be a crime to possess small quantities of cocaine or amphetamines

LONDON – The Canadian province of British Columbia has launched one of the first programs in the world to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of hard drugs. From this week it is legal for an adult to possess up to 2.5 grams of cocaine, heroin, morphine and amphetamine. For now it is a three-year experiment, at the end of which it will be decided whether to extend it indefinitely.
