The SBB and the canton of Solothurn are working together to put more people and goods on the rails. For this purpose, construction director Sandra Kolly and Vicent Ducrot, CEO of the SBB, signed the “Overall Perspective Solothurn” agreement in Solothurn on Wednesday, as the company and the canton announced. In accordance with spatial planning and the expansion of the railway infrastructure that has already been decided, environmentally friendly mobility is to be further developed.
The goal: increase the proportion of passenger and goods transport compared to road transport. In general, public transport connections should be improved. The Grenchen Süd train station is to be expanded into a transport hub. A transshipment station for goods is also planned in the Gäu. (sr)
