After Til Schweiger hit the headlines for alleged alcohol abuse and physical violence on the set of his new film “Manta Manta 2”, some friends from the entertainment industry have now turned their backs on him. The 60-year-old said this on Thursday (March 21, 2024) in the “Hotel Matze” podcast. “In the last few years I’ve often drunk too much alcohol. And then I made mistakes, stupid mistakes, where I also hurt friends in my alcohol madness. And every time you say to yourself: ‘This can’t happen again.’ But it kept happening,” the actor admits in the podcast.
Breaking off contact with fellow actor Matthias Schweighöfer
Til Schweiger can be seen together with Matthias Schweighöfer in successful films such as “Keinohrhaasen”, “Zweiohrküken” and “Kokowääh 2”. In the “Hotel Matze” interview he now describes that the 43-year-old was like “a little brother” to him. However, Schweighöfer stopped contacting him after his career took off. However, it doesn’t surprise him that he didn’t stand behind him in the set scandal: “I haven’t had any contact with Matthias for years,” admits the father of four.
Former “Tatort” colleague Fahri Yardim is also said to have broken off contact with Schweiger. The fact that Yardim didn’t send him a message when the allegations arose and Schweiger’s confession of his alcohol problem hit him hard. “I took him with me everywhere and he always said: ‘Without you I would still be playing a greengrocer. I have so much to thank you for.’ And then suddenly he was gone,” he reveals in the interview.
