Cíntia Chagas is booed during a lecture in Curitiba

How absurd, people! This was my reaction when I saw this video that a friend of mine from Curitiba sent me from an event that took place at OAB Mulher in Curitiba. It all started last Friday afternoon (15), when the lecture given by professor and influencer Cintia Chagas was heavily booed as a force of public protest against the influencer and she retaliated by accusing the protesters of “pseudodemocracy” and suggested that they were doing “crying”.

The reason for the booing was because the public did not agree with the presence of the teacher and influencer at an event for women at the OAB-PR because her speeches were considered sexist. This lecture was part of the program of the IV National Conference of Women Lawyers, at the headquarters of OAB Paraná, in Curitiba.

In a video posted by Cintia Chagas herself on Instagram, a group of women appears shouting “fascist” at the influencer, while another group appears shouting “respect” to the first group.

“There is a minority group deep down that preaches democracy. However, this group is taking away the right of all of you to attend my lecture”, she said, at one point. “So the democracy evoked by this group and the ‘chorority’ are nothing more than pseudo-democracy and ‘pseudochorority’”.

Cintia Chagas gives lectures on the Portuguese language and public speaking, and in recent times she has caused numerous controversies with very sexist statements. In one of them, she criticized women who drink beer. In another, she said that “Women need to submit to men. I refer to the action of letting a man be a man. Because a relationship only becomes long-lasting and happy when the woman assumes her role and the man assumes his role.” The National Coalition of Women, made up of lawyers, stated that it is against giving space to a person who “is contrary to constitutional principles”.
