O Corinthians recovered in South American Cup, this Tuesday, 9th, after debuting with a draw in the competition. Timão received the National of Paraguay, at the Neo Química Arena, and won 3-0 on a special night for Ángel Romero. The Paraguayan striker entered the history of the black and white team, breaking two records, being the club’s and stadium’s highest foreign scorer.

In an attack versus defense match, Corinthians had calm and patience to touch the ball and involve the opponent. The first goal came in the 22nd minute, with a crooked shot by Fausto Vera that died at the foot of Ángel Romero. The Paraguayan completed the move by kicking across.

Timão loosened up even more in the final stage, after Portillo was expelled. With one more player, Yuri Alberto had space to increase the advantage. On a special night, Romero scored another goal and entered the club’s history – becoming the top scorer at the Neo Química Arena and also the top foreign scorer.

In the final minutes, there was still time for Pedro Raul to score the fourth goal and turn the result into a rout. Corinthians finishes the group leader round in the Copa Sudamericana. The Brazilian team had a stumble from Argentinos Juniors against Racing.
