Coronavirus in the world: over 128 million infections since the beginning of the pandemic

The number of Covid-19 infections reported worldwide since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded 128 million, according to data from the American University of Johns Hopkins. The deaths were almost 2.8 million, the healings 72.6 million. The country most affected in absolute terms by the new coronavirus remains the United States, with 30.3 million cases and 551,000 deaths out of 328 million inhabitants. Brazil (12.5 million, 313 thousand), India (12 million, 162 thousand) and Mexico (2.2 million, 201 thousand) follow.

Brazil recorded 84,494 new cases and 3,780 deaths for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, thus setting a new daily death record. The data are from the Ministry of Health. From the first infection, recorded on February 26, 2020, and from the first death, on March 12 of last year, both in Sao Paulo, the country now has 12,658,109 confirmed cases and a total of 317,646 deaths.

In China 11 new cases

China reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 on March 30, up from eight the day before. Six of the new cases are local infections reported in southwestern Yunnan province. The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, has risen to eight from six a day earlier. The total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China now stands at 90,201, while the death toll remains unchanged at 4,636.
