NEW YORK – Paul McCartney once said that if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarians. But even being resident in Pico Rivera, a town of sixty thousand inhabitants south of Los Angeles, could lead to a conversion. Since Tuesday evening this has become the symbol of vegetarians from all over the world: forty cows have escaped from a slaughterhouse, Manning Beef, at number 9500 Beverly Road, taking advantage of a door left open and unattended.
