Although I had known Ayùb for years, the first time I spoke to him was when he came to ask me to help him get an audition on TV. It was the end of 2001, the Taliban who had banned music and photographs had fallen, several broadcasters were springing up. A tailor by profession, his dream was to act, he explained, but he had turned to singing because, so lame, he would never get a part.
