No Italian city appears among the top 50 most violent in the world for number of murders. Nor are there any other European cities in this particular ranking, much less Asian, Australian or Canadian. The list is drawn up every year by a Mexican non-governmental organization (the “City Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice”) using as an index the number of deaths killed per 100 thousand inhabitants.
