Everything would be ready for the return of the Cubans stranded in Haiti

The repatriation of Cubans stranded in Haiti is set to begin as soon as air operations at the Toussaint Louverture international airport resume. The Cuban embassy in Haiti confirmed this information through a social network post.

The airport had previously been closed due to conflicts between gangs and Haitian police forces, leading to chaos in the city. The return flights to Cuba will have two destinations, Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba, with passengers from other provinces being transported by Transtur buses to their final destinations.

Currently, negotiations are ongoing in Haiti to establish transitional authorities. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that over 2,000 Cubans are still stranded in Haiti, with varying conditions and experiences of the ongoing conflict. The Cuban government is providing assistance to these individuals and maintaining communication with them and their families.

There are also 53 Cuban health collaborators working in the south of Haiti, where conditions are relatively calmer. Security measures have been taken by seven medical cooperation colleagues in the capital, Port-au-Prince, in light of the recent violent actions in the country.

The United States has already conducted multiple evacuation operations for its citizens in Haiti due to the unstable situation. As the repatriation process for Cubans begins, efforts are being made to ensure the safe return of all individuals stranded in Haiti.
