Update March 26, 11 a.m.: Police investigations are continuing after an employee’s fatal accident at work on a roller coaster at the Phantasialand amusement park in Brühl. In order to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, traces were secured on site on Monday, said a police spokeswoman. Interviews with witnesses continued.
According to previous information from the police, the 43-year-old employee had an accident while carrying out maintenance work on the “Taron” roller coaster on Monday afternoon, shortly before the start of the theme park’s season. Investigators initially did not provide any information about the reasons or how the accident occurred. According to police, there were no visitors present. There is still a winter break in the amusement park, but according to the plan it should end on Maundy Thursday (March 28th).
