Manchester City continuing the winning trend in the Premier League. Man City came from behind before beating hosts Brentford with a score of 3-1.
From Brentford vs Man City held at the Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday (5/2/2024) early morning WIB. Phil Foden was the star of the Citizens’ victory after scoring a hat-trick, aka three goals.
The Blades surprised Man City after taking the lead thanks to a goal from Neal Maupay. Foden scored City’s reply to balance the game at the end of the first half, and scored two other goals after the restart.

The victory over Brentford marked Man City’s fifth consecutive win in this competition. The defending champion has the right to return to the top two in the standings with 49 points, the same as Arsenal but superior on goal difference.
The Sky Blue are only two points behind Liverpool at the top, but still have one game in hand. Meanwhile, Brentford is ranked 15th with 22 points from 22 matches.

The Course of the Match
Brentford took the initiative to attack first. However, Man City got their first chance in the eleventh minute. From the counter-attack, Julian Alvarez fired a long-range shot which was saved by Mark Flekken.
Man City continues to press. Flekken blocked Alvarez’s kick again, before blocking Kyle Walker’s kick.
Brentford actually surprised Man City after opening the scoring in the 21st minute. Flekken’s goal kick sailed far forward, the ball bounced and freed Neal Maupay. The last named player finished with a low kick into the bottom corner of the goal to make the score 1-0.
Three minutes later, Man City almost scored a goal back. Erling Haaland is in a one on one situation with Flekken, but the finish can be blocked.
Man City’s attack finally paid off. Phil Foden scored a goal back in injury time to make the score 1-1.
Brentford’s defense blocked the crossing from the right wing, Foden got the ball in the middle of the penalty box. Foden controlled the ball with his chest before finishing with a low kick.
Man City immediately kicked off after halftime. Foden scored the second goal to put his team ahead in the 53rd minute.
Kevin de Bruyne’s cross from the left side of the field fell in the middle of the penalty box. Foden, who was standing free, met the ball with a header into the bottom corner of the goal. Man City beat Brentford 2-1.
Foden hat-trick! In the 70th minute, Foden scored his third goal for Man City. Haaland received Rodri’s low pass in front of area D. The ball went straight to Foden who penetrated the Brentford penalty box from the middle to finish with a low shot.
Brentford 1, Man City 3.
After that, the tension of the game decreased. Man City managed to maintain its lead for the remaining time of the game.
