20 cars, 24 tracks, one world champion – Formula 1 starts the new season on March 2, 2024 and the anticipation is huge again. Millions of fans have been watching Formula 1 races at the track or on TV and live streams for years.

Formula 1 is now running in Germany exclusively on Sky for the fourth year in a row. The pay-TV giant has held the exclusive rights for Formula 1 since 2021 and shows the races both on TV and in the live stream. On Sky you can see the entire Grand Prix – from the first free practice session through qualifying and the sprint to the race on Sunday.

You can receive Sky via the SkyQ receiver via satellite, cable or internet. In addition, with a Sky subscription you have the opportunity to watch the program via apps on your television, cell phone or other mobile devices. Videos on demand are available at sport.sky.de.
The Sky team is lined up similarly to previous years. The ex-Formula 1 drivers Ralf Schumacher and Timo Glock are the TV experts. Former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg will also be there again. Sascha Roos comments on Formula 1 on Sky. Peter Hardenacke is the moderator and Sandra Baumgartner is the reporter.

RTL is showing Formula 1 again
Until 2020, Formula 1 ran on free TV on RTL. After 30 years, however, the broadcaster lost the rights to broadcast Formula 1. In 2021 and 2022, RTL secured a sublicense for four Formula 1 races and showed them on free TV. In 2023 RTL didn’t show any races at all, but in 2024 the station will be back in business.
Quite surprisingly, Sky and RTL announced a joint deal. RTL will show seven races live on free TV in the 2024 season. These include the opening race in Bahrain, five Grand Prixes in Europe and the cracker in Las Vegas (more on that here!). And that includes qualifying. RTL will also show five more qualifying sessions; the remaining races will remain exclusively on Sky.
RTL relies on its old team for its broadcasts: Florian König is the presenter, Kai Ebel is a reporter in the pit lane and the whole thing is commented on by Heiko Wasser and Christian Danner. Laura Papendick is also there.

Formula 1 runs here in Austria and Switzerland
In Austria, the Formula 1 GPs are shown on TV and live streamed on the free TV channels ORF and the Red Bull channel ServusTV. The two TV stations are sharing the rights for the premier class of motorsport for the third year in a row. The Austrian GP will run exclusively on ServusTV in 2024 and then again on ORF in 2025.
In Switzerland, Formula 1 is shown on TV and live streamed on Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). The station only broadcasts the qualifying sessions and races on TV and live stream.
Only one German driver left in Formula 1
The racing calendar is packed this year. 24 Grand Prix are scheduled. The Chinese GP is back. Las Vegas is on the racing calendar for the second time this year, with racing taking place in the gambling city on the legendary Las Vegas Strip.
The big favorite this year is Max Verstappen again. After his third world title, he wants to follow up with Red Bull. Chasing him are Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the Mercedes and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari. And McLaren with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and Aston Martin with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are also trying their luck.
