French presidential elections, from Jane Birkin to Marc Levy: the appeal of the world of culture to stop Marine Le Pen

PARIS – The world of French culture is mobilizing against Marine Le Pen. In fact, one week after the ballot vote, at least five hundred actors, musicians and writers have already signed the call to “vote without hesitation” for the outgoing president Emmanuel Macron. Denouncing the Rassemblement National leader’s program as “xenophobic” and centered on closure: “We cannot imagine a France led by those who pursue a program centered on self-withdrawal, a person who has forged alliances and friendships with totalitarian and warmongering powers” they therefore write, in the appeal sent to the major French media.
