A 74-year-old Italian engineer, employed by an Italian construction company in Haiti, was taken today from the construction site where he was for some surveys, by unknown individuals. The Crisis Unit of the Farnesina – reads a note – was immediately activated and is following the case in conjunction with the other competent branches of the State, with our embassy in Panama and with our Honorary Consul on the spot.
He was in the country on behalf of the company Bonifica spa, engaged in road construction. It is learned from informed sources. The kidnapping took place for extortion purposes.
