Heggebø averted Brann’s slump with a late goal against HamKam: – Terrific – Dagsavisen

Brann has struggled to recreate the home strength from last year’s silverware season. After 0-2 against Fredrikstad in the first game, it looked like there would be a loss of points on Tuesday as well. Only after 171 minutes could the audience at Brann Stadium cheer for the first home goal of the year.

Niklas Castro hit a breaking ball to Felix Horn Myhre. He found Bård Finne, who fought his way to the goal line between two opponents and hit an angle, and Heggebø scored at the near post.

– It was really delicious. We paint them well. In the end, it lets up a bit, and then we get a goal, said the match winner to TV 2. That was all he managed before the crowd-pleasing teammates were pushed forward to receive the crowd’s praise.

Last year, Brann took as many points at home as the supreme series champion Bodø/Glimt. Then the team conceded only seven points on their own turf all season. HamKam had chances on Tuesday which meant that there could have been six Brann points awarded after two games this year, but all in all it was a deserved victory.

Finne and Castro had great chances in the first half, but both times Sam Rogers showed up with decisive blocks. He also stood in the way of Fredrik Pallesen Knudsen’s hard header in the 78th minute, which was Brann’s first big chance after the break.

The match was actually supposed to be played on the last weekend in July, but it was brought forward because last year’s Brann will play qualification for the conference league this summer.

Even in chances

Brann had the ball over 70 percent of the time in the first half, but HamKam had more finishes and just as many chances. The first came in the 8th minute after a long throw-in and several duels in the field. Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason shot from an acute angle just wide.

In the 17th minute, Finne showed good skills when he turned away two opponents and pulled himself free in the field, but Rogers threw himself in between and blocked the shot for a corner.

Halfway through the half, Finne got the ball into the goal, but it was correctly canceled for offside.

Gard Simenstad was responsible for HamKam’s next chance after half an hour. He showed off his shooting foot after a long play went over two players in a duel. Mathias Dyngeland hit the diagonal shot just outside the far post.

In the 40th minute, Finne tried to escape Sivert Heltne Nilsen’s long drive towards goal, but only hit air, and the ball bounced in to the goalkeeper.

Dissatisfied

In overtime in the half, Rogers showed his tackling foot again when Castro was played forward in the field. When the shot came, Rogers was there and blocked for a corner.

Eirik Horneland looked unhappy on the sideline during the first half, and assistant Erik Huseklepp confirmed it to TV 2.

– We play a bad game. We don’t have enough pace, don’t attack the opponents and create too little trouble for them, he told the channel before the second half.

It didn’t get much better then. HamKam got the half’s first big chance in the 66th minute, again after a long throw from Simenstad. Bjarnason won a duel, and the ball reached Pål Alexander Kirkevold all alone in front of the goal. He was taken a little by surprise and got neither speed nor direction on the headbutt.

The home team lined up corner kicks, but struggled to convert either them or their dominance in play into chances. It loosened up after Heggebø’s goal, and the victory could have been clearer. HamKam still stands with only one point.

Both teams play at home on Sunday. HamKam receives a visit from Strømsgodset, while Brann welcomes Odd.
