Highlights from Salone Mobile Milano 2024 by Elaine Carvalho – MONDO MODA

In April, the Milan Design Week (@isaloniofficial) takes place, associated with the Salone do Móvel, but each year the “Fuori Salone” events gain more space. Shops in abandoned buildings, mansions, galleries and churches providing a stage for art and design in a unique way, proposing experiences that awaken sensations and feelings.

Seeing everything is impossible. The events are spread across the city and this year, in addition to registrations for access, the queues for the most popular events could last up to 3 hours.
With the experience of previous years and research, I select a few and we continue the marathon.

2024 Salone Milan – Alcova @ Elaine Carvallho

This year, I highlight the Alcova that occupied two houses in Varedo – an Italian commune in the Lombardy region, province of Monza and Brianza; Moooi – who always puts on a show and Paola Lenti with her incredible space and colors, who this year added furniture from the collab with the Nendo studio, by Japanese designer Oki Sato, in the same space.

The first day in Milan was reserved for InSalone, in which I highlight the stands of the brands I like most to guide the visit.
The Kartell space is incredible and impactful – practically an Installation – with the launches of 23 products signed by Philippe Starck, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola among others. Many technological innovations in industrial processes, mixing glass (a major input of the season) with recycled polymers, from wood to fabric, even aluminum and polycarbonate.
Everything recycled or recyclable. In addition, a new partnership with Liberty, which customized Starck’s HHH chair.

It was impossible not to be enchanted by the star designer Philippe Starck who posed next to his creations.

This year, Euroucina took place. I liked it, but I confess that I thought there were more new appliances – much more technological and colorful than new things for kitchens.

On the other hand, the most beautiful kitchens I saw were in high street stores, like Boffi and Ernestomeda.

I find it curious how some brands follow the same path, they certainly do a lot of trend research to launch their products. Even the ones that look the same. Anyway…

The use of colors also caught my attention. I highlight the beautiful creations by Paola Lenti.

Last year terracotta and brown were the stars. This year, they shared space with wine and maples, with scores for reds and cherries.

In addition to being the capital of design, Milan is one of the most important destinations on the fashion scene. The hottest brands are present. Highlight for Hermes, which this year provided the city with an incredible sensory experience.

In collaboration with Cassina and Fondation Le Corbusier, Bottega Veneta rocked “on the rocks”, giving new life to the LC14 TABOURET CABANON, a minimalist masterpiece originally created by architect and urban planner Le Corbusier for his cabin on the Cote D’azur.

Another event was the Dolce & Gabbana Exhibition which takes place at the Palazzo Reale until July.

The brand’s haute couture atelier is in Milan, which is why it was chosen as the city. In addition to the precious craftsmanship of the pieces and the history of the creation of each of them, the scenography is extremely well done. An exhibition that pleases everyone, regardless of whether you like the style or not.

BRAZIL

Brazil was also present with the participation of Jader Almeida, Indusparquet and Green House, who had their stands at the Show.

Ornare Milan @ publicity

Ornare opened its Flagship at a prime address (Via Alessandro Manzoni, 30) It’s a really cool space. They had a beautiful party at the Portrait Milano Hotel – Lungarno Collection, which was one of the places I loved visiting most.

It is located in the fashion quadrangle with a central courtyard, exclusive boutiques, gastronomic experiences and a wonderful lobby that gave access to the Ferragamo family’s chic hotel.
Brazil remains in fourth place in the ranking of countries that received the most visitors, behind China, Germany and Spain.
Everyone who works in this segment wants to be there. Experience everything that Milan offers us this week. See and be seen. Of course, some will say that it is not necessary to go every year, but I make a point of including this week in my annual calendar. I make a point of not losing it.
For me, being in Milan means absorbing and experiencing all the inspiration it offers us.
