Hu Ping: Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Disintegration of the Soviet Union | Red Empire | Communist Party | One-Party Despotism

[Epoch Times December 26, 2021]December 26 this year marks the 30th anniversary of the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

On December 26, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union passed a resolution announcing that the Soviet Union ceased to exist. The Soviet Union officially disintegrated.

This is a great and historic day. Like many important historical dates, this day has become a symbol, a symbol, and an arrow target. It has been given a lot of meaning that it did not originally have. Just like China’s “May Fourth Movement”, many things that did not happen on this day have been given. Also hung on this day’s account.

A popular saying is that the disintegration of the Soviet Union meant the demise of the Soviet Union, the Red Empire, and the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, which had lasted for nearly half a century after World War II. In fact, these statements are not accurate.

First, to say that the Soviet Union is the Red Empire means that the Soviet Union is a communist one-party dictatorship. But when the Soviet Union announced its disintegration on December 26, 1991, the Soviet Union was no longer a communist one-party dictatorship. As early as March 1990, the Soviet Union convened the Extraordinary People’s Congress, and through the amendment of the constitution, the one-party dictatorship was abolished and a multi-party democracy was started. Many people confuse the disintegration of the Soviet Union with the transformation of the Soviet Union. In fact, the disintegration of the Soviet Union is one thing, and the transformation of the Soviet Union, that is, ending the Communist Party’s one-party dictatorship and implementing democratic transformation, is another. The latter is much earlier than the former.

Second, it is not accurate to say that the disintegration of the Soviet Union meant the end of the Cold War between the two major camps of the United States and the Soviet Union. Because long before the collapse of the Soviet Union, the socialist camp headed by the Soviet Union had already collapsed. Back then, the socialist camp headed by the Soviet Union referred to six countries including Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Bulgaria and Romania, in addition to the Soviet Union. The fact is that the above-mentioned six countries, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Bulgaria and Romania, all got rid of their affiliation or alliance with the Soviet Union long before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, ended their one-party dictatorship and implemented democracy. Transformation. Long before the collapse of the Soviet Union, the socialist camp headed by the Soviet Union collapsed.

Furthermore, strictly speaking, the Soviet Union did not disintegrate on December 26, 1991. In the previous 18 days, the Soviet Union disintegrated. On December 8, 1991, the leaders of the three Slavic states of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus issued a statement and signed an agreement on the establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States, announcing that the Soviet Union as a subject of international law and a geopolitical entity would cease to exist. Therefore, we should say that in fact, on this day, the Soviet Union disintegrated.

There is no doubt that Gorbachev played a big role in the transformation and disintegration of the Soviet Union. The Chinese Communist Party insisted that the Soviet Union was responsible for Gorbachev’s collapse. They said that a communist country, like the Soviet Union, except that the Communist Party can break itself down, who else can break it?

Of course this is wrong. Speaking of the Communist Party’s reorganization of the Communist Party, the Communist Party reorganizes itself, who can compare Stalin and Mao Zedong? Stalin engaged in the suppression of counter-revolutionaries and Mao Zedong engaged in the Cultural Revolution. How many veteran Communist Party cadres were beaten to death and their families were destroyed. In the Stalin era and Mao Zedong era, the Communist Party was frantically rectifying the Communist Party, but the Communist Party was not collapsed. After Gorbachev came to power, the Communist Party no longer rectified, but the Communist Party collapsed.

The CCP always said that the Communist Party of the Soviet Union caused Gorbachev to collapse. This is totally wrong. Who did Gorbachev fix? None of them are trimmed. The dictatorship of the Communist Party depends on rectification of people. Whenever the Communist Party does not rectify people, and when the Communist Party does not rectify people outside the party, neither will the Communist Party. If no one else is allowed to speak, the Communist Party will collapse one day.
