This is in an interview given to New York Timespublished this Sunday March 3, 2024, that Kate Winslet revealed a secret that she always wanted to hide until now: the actress revealed that she suffered from eating disorders at the start of her career, which she managed overcome.

A speech which echoes a painful past: the actress was in fact the victim of mockery from her comrades. “I was persecuted at school. They called me ‘punch’. They made fun of me, locked me in a closet and found it funny,” she recalled during a conference, in 2017.

All this attention paid to her weight ended up impacting Kate Winslet’s mental health, and causing her to suffer from poor eating habits. “I never told anyone about it,” the actress told New York Times, about his eating disorders. She thought she was protecting herself by sparing herself from comments promoting losing weight: “Because, guess what, people around you say: ‘Hey, you look in great shape! You’ve lost weight !’ So even the compliment about being beautiful is linked to weight.”

Today, Winslet explains that she doesn’t allow anyone to talk about her weight, whether it’s good or bad. “If they do it, I will take it up immediately,” she assured.

The interpreter of Rose in “Titanic” also shared her dismay at the controversial use of Ozempic, an antidiabetic drug used as a weight loss pill, which she claimed not to know. “It sounds terrible,” Ms. Winslet said when she learned the drug had an appetite suppressant effect. “Let’s eat other things!”
