With classic instruments such as violin, piano, viola, cello, double bass and accordion among other amalgamation of sounds, Arcade Fire will be presented this Sunday, March 24 at the Estéreo Picnic Festival, in Bogotá. The Canadian band, considered one of the most influential of alternative and indie rock of the 2000s, hopes to unleash all its musical power on the Festival’s Adidas stage between 11:15 pm and 12:45 am

Arcade Fire is made up of Win Butler (vocals and guitar), Régine Chassagne (vocals and accordion), Richard Parry (Bass), Tim Kingsbury (Keyboards) and Jeremy Gara (Drums). Although some instruments are mentioned, this Montreal band experiments with a diversity of musical artifacts that give it its touch of originality and unprecedented sound experimentation.

Regarding the name of the band, Esquire magazine from Spain quoted Butler: “It is based on a story they told me, about a fire in an arcade. In fact, it didn’t even happen, but I believed it was true.”

After the marriage of Butler and Chassagne, the band began its artistic journey with the self-titled EP, but mostly known as ‘Us Kids Know’. However, it was between 2003 and 2004, with the release of the album ‘Funeral’, that his success germinated.

With a good result from critics, ‘Funeral’, named after the multiple deaths of several of the band members, is composed of ‘Une anne sans Lumiere’, ‘In the Backseat’, ‘Haiti’ in the latter Régine, anticipating the current situation of the nation, narrates her love for the Caribbean country from which her grandparents had to flee.
