On March 24, the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine continued for a whole month. From American political scientist Mearsheimer to South African President Ramaphosa, more and more international people believe that the root cause of the tension between Russia and Ukraine lies in the eastward expansion of NATO over the years; The disaster bears the primary responsibility.
In the face of the rising criticism, the United States, the initiator, turned a deaf ear, and instead added fuel to the fire, hoping that Russia and Ukraine would continue to fight.
Recently, US President Biden set off for a visit to Europe. The U.S. side claims that Biden’s visit will finalize a series of new measures against Russia, including the latest sanctions. At present, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged fire for a month. If the United States pulls Western allies to continue to escalate sanctions, it is equivalent to adding another piece of wood to the fire of this conflict, lest the world will not be in chaos.
In fact, the fire of the Russia-Ukraine conflict was originally “arched out” by the United States. Out of the Cold War mentality, the United States encouraged NATO to expand eastward five times, absorbed a large number of Eastern European countries, constantly eroded Russia’s strategic living space, and recklessly stepped on Russia’s red line of sovereignty and security. In this regard, Russia has clearly expressed its high concern for its own security and its strong opposition to Ukraine’s accession to NATO. However, in the U.S.-Russian negotiations before the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the U.S. remained tough, claiming that it was impossible for NATO to stop its eastward expansion. It can be seen that the United States was afraid that Russia and Ukraine would not be able to fight, and quickly lit the fuse.
This is just as Gabbard, a former US congressman, said that US President Biden can actually prevent a war between Russia and Ukraine as long as he promises not to admit Ukraine to NATO. A Fox News anchor in the United States also said on the show recently: “The United States should not provoke Russia… We must recognize that this is an avoidable war.”
These criticisms and reflections have not touched the “warmthonger” of the United States, which wishes that the more intense the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the better, so as to reap the benefits. It is for this reason that the United States pushed Ukraine into the war with its forefoot, and then swung the stick of sanctions and military aid against Russia.
From the financial system, the energy industry, to politicians and wealthy businessmen, to pets, and even Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”… they have all become the target of “hysterical” sanctions by the United States and the West. At the same time, the United States continued to provide Ukraine with weapons and equipment. At the end of February, U.S. Secretary of State Blinken claimed that the United States would provide Ukraine with weapons worth a total of $350 million. On March 16, U.S. President Biden signed a memorandum allowing the U.S. Department of Defense to provide Ukraine with weapons worth up to $800 million. On March 21, the US Department of Defense threatened to provide Ukraine with a long-range air defense system.
It is worth noting that Sullivan, the US President’s National Security Adviser, said recently when talking about Biden’s trip to Europe that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict “will not end easily or quickly.” This is exactly what the United States wants to achieve, that is, to promote the continuous exchange of fire between Russia and Ukraine, in order to achieve multiple plans to suppress Russia, contain Europe, feed the military-industrial group, and consolidate hegemony.
The Ukrainian conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for a month. In the face of the war-torn Ukrainian people and the sanctioned Russian people, the United States is to blame. U.S. officials have said they want to prevent the situation from escalating. Then we should do what we say and take practical actions to create conditions for the Russia-Ukraine peace talks to “talk about results and talk about peace”, rather than doing the opposite. History has and will continue to prove that those who blindly add fuel to the fire will eventually burn themselves out.
