Irizar e-mobility launches onto the international market and will supply 32 100% electric zero-emission buses to the State of Yucatan. The first units will be put into operation on December 30th. in the Va-y-Ven public transportation system. It should be noted that it will be a 100% electric route, the only one of its kind in all of Latin America and the first in the entire south-east of the country. The route on which these vehicles will operate expects over 500,000 passengers per week.

This is a pioneering project for the Mexican state that will connect the Maya Train terminal, Umán, Kanasín, the UADY and Teya engineering faculty with the La Plancha park in Mérida via 100% electric routes. Delivery of the first units is scheduled for the end of this year.

The model chosen is the Irizar ie tram, the company’s most emblematic bus, characterized by its cutting-edge design, low noise levels as well as brightness, safety, accessibility and high level of customisation. It is a bus that is revolutionizing electromobility in cities.

The official presentation of the first tram units took place yesterday, Wednesday 13 December 2023, at the IE-TRAM station located within the Gran Parque de La Plancha in Mérida, Mexico. An act in which the governor, Mauricio Vila Dosal, participated; The head of the Yucatan Transport Agency, Lic. Rafael Hernandez Kotasek; the general director of Irizar e-mobility, Iñigo Etxeberria and the commercial director of Irizar e-mobility, Iñigo Azcona.
