Nine people were killed in pre-dawn Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-controlled territory’s health ministry said.
The Israeli army announced that it had carried out attacks on Palestinian “Islamic Jihad targets” in the area, without providing further details. An AFP reporter in Gaza saw the top of a burning building after the attacks and ambulances evacuating the victims.
