100 years after the death of the writer Franz Kafka (1883–1924), his novel is written The missing one now also in Frisian. The Eilun Feer Skuul in Wyk auf Föhr translated the work and published the result on Friday under the title America presented, as the Kiel State Chancellery announced. The idea came about in Frisian lessons in grades 12 and 13.

It all started with a play.

Initially, individual text sections were translated into Frisian for a play. It was said that the experiences they gained inspired the students to translate further parts of the work into Frisian.

“The result of the translation into Frisian is very impressive and shows that any kind of literature can be reproduced at a high linguistic level in Frisian,” explained the minority representative of the Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister, Johannes Callsen, at the book launch in the Library of the Ferring Foundation on Föhr. epd
