Update Thursday February 15, 6 p.m.: The shootings during the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City originated from “a dispute between several people,” announced the police chief of this city in Missouri, in the central United States. “As mentioned yesterday, we have individuals detained, two of whom are minors,” Stacey Graves, who announced three arrests on Wednesday, said at a press conference. The toll continues to rise. At least one person was killed by gunfire at the end of the parade celebrating the Chiefs’ victory in last Sunday’s Super Bowl, the final of the American football championship. Twenty-eight people were shot and injured, some seriously. Among the victims were many minors who had come to cheer the players with their parents. Eight people are currently in “vital emergency”.
The parade had just ended and the players were still on stage when shots rang out in a nearby station parking lot. The police, weapons in hand, rushed inside the building, while the crowd fled in the opposite direction. In the confusion, a suspect was neutralized by Chiefs supporters. Police announced they had arrested two other people. Their motivations are currently unknown.
