Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Vice Presidential candidate number 3, Mahfud Md, revealed that he would resign as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (KIM). Mahfud has shown his resignation letter in front of Ulun Danu Temple which is located in the middle of Lake Tirta Gangga, Swastika Buana Village, Seputih Banyak District, Central Lampung, Wednesday (31/1/2024).
Mahfud’s attitude was responded to by Presidential Candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan. Anies respects Mahfud’s decision.
“Today we are grateful to have received great support in Madura, so we are grateful for that and when it comes to Pak Mahfud we respect his decision,” said Anies to journalists on the sidelines of the campaign in Pamekasan, East Java, Wednesday (31/1/2024).

Collect detik.comwhen asked whether Mahfud’s resignation should be followed by other ministers running for office to avoid potential misuse of state facilities, Anies only answered about ethics.
“From the start, we said that ethics must be upheld, this country can run well if its leaders uphold ethics, respect the rules of the game, and that is what we hope will continue to be implemented,” explained Anies.
Mahfud has previously openly stated his reasons for resigning.

“I really avoid conflicts of interest and political intervention,” said Mahfud.
On this occasion, Mahfud also said that he had packed all his belongings and was ready to leave the official residence.
“I have also packed all my personal belongings, and am ready to leave my official residence and release all state facilities,” he added.
Mahfud has also shown his resignation letter. Later the letter will be handed over to President Joko Widodo. Mahfud said that he wanted to say goodbye nicely from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Mahfud’s resignation letter has not been submitted to Jokowi because the time is not yet right. According to Mahfud, Jokowi still has an agenda outside Jakarta.
“The president is outside Jakarta until Thursday. I will also return to Jakarta on Thursday. Hopefully we can meet as soon as possible,” he said.
“So I will not say anything before I meet the president and just convey a short letter with that. I was appointed with honor. I was appointed with honor and I will say goodbye with great respect to him (Jokowi) and I will report that I have finished, that’s all,” he concluded.
