China News Agency, Kuala Lumpur, January 21 (Reporter Chen Yue) The Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia announced on the 21st that Malaysia has ratified the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and submitted the approval letter on the 17th of this month. Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry said in a statement on the 21st that, according to regulations, RCEP will take effect for Malaysia on March 18 this year, 60 days after Malaysia submits the approval letter.

The statement of the Ministry of Trade and Industry believes that RCEP can strengthen the multilateral trading system and promote regional economic cooperation, and will become a “key driving force” for Malaysia’s post-pandemic economic recovery and the enhancement of international economic and trade exchanges. The statement also encourages Malaysian companies to fully seize the huge opportunities brought by RCEP and participate more in regional and global value chains.

So far, 11 of the RCEP member states have ratified the agreement, and Malaysia has become the 12th member to ratify the RCEP. (Finish)
