After yesterday’s drama at Brenner, another big one collision on the A12 between the Rapallo and Chiavari toll booths between a lorry and some cars.

Collision on the A22 between Reggio and Modena, two dead and dozens injured. One hundred vehicles involved, the motorway closed

According to what has been learned, one person died and there were some serious injuries. The A12 between Rapallo and Chiavari has been closed since 7am today. Six ambulances and two 118 vehicles, traffic police, firefighters and helicopter intervention were on site. Autostrade recommends that users coming from Genoa and heading towards Livorno traveling on light vehicles, after the obligatory exit at Rapallo, take the Strada Statale 1 Aurelia towards Lavagna where they return to the motorway.

THE DYNAMICS

According to initial information, a minibus with 9 workers (all foreigners) traveling in the direction of Livorno would have overturned and spun out, remaining on the same road but in the opposite direction. Apparently the workers got out of the vehicle, two of them, especially due to the darkness, and then they were hit by the oncoming cars. One was torn apart by the means. Five other vehicles were involved in the subsequent huge collision.

TRAFFIC BLOCKED

On the A12 Genoa-Sestri Levante, within the temporarily closed section between Rapallo and Chiavari in the direction of Sestri Levante, the intervention continues by the medical and mechanical rescue services, the traffic police patrols and the staff of the Genoa Section I Directorate of Autostrade per l’Italia, on the complex accident which occurred at km 37 which involved four cars and a heavy vehicle. Currently, Autostrade per l’Italia informs, in the affected section, traffic is blocked and there is a queue of one kilometer in the direction of Sestri Levante. Preparatory activities are underway for the opening of a lane to traffic towards Livorno, deviating onto the opposite carriageway. Autostrade advises users coming from Genoa and heading towards Livorno traveling on light vehicles, after the obligatory exit at Rapallo, to take the state road 1 Aurelia towards Lavagna where they return to the motorway. Those traveling by heavy vehicles are advised to take the A7 towards Milan, then the A21 towards Piacenza and then take the A1 towards Parma and finally the A15 towards La Spezia where they return to the A12 towards Livorno.
