Mayer joker goal gives GAK three points in Ried

GAK defeated SV Ried 1-0 away in the evening game in the 21st round of the ADMIRAL 2nd league.

Thanks to 6,210 spectators, there is a great atmosphere in the Innviertel, both fan camps accompany their teams onto the field with choreographies. But the home team from Ried were better in the game right from the start.

In the seventh minute of the game, the ball lands in the goal for the first time – the supposed Rieder lead was scored by Wilfried Eza after a great pass from Jonas Mayer, but Eza was offside and the goal did not count.

The hosts continue to combine cheerfully through the GAK defense, the Graz team are far too passive. A Bumberger shot in the 16th minute was just blocked, Ante Bajic only hit the side netting (25′), a second shot from the backcourt also got stuck (44′).

The GAK is also lucky not to have to play the second half outnumbered. Yannick Oberleitner, who had already been warned, committed a second yellow-worthy foul before the break (42nd), the referee team around Walter Altmann was probably not sure which guest player had committed the foul, Altmann received the yellow card again. Oberleitner was replaced at halftime for safety reasons.

GAK only had chances late

In half two the GAK is a little more present than in half one. Ried keeper Leitner was also lucky when he misjudged, but Daniel Maderner was unable to put the ball into the empty goal from a difficult position (49th). Just a little later, GAK goalkeeper Meierhofer is on the spot against the eye-catching Fabian Wohlmuth (50th).

As a result, Ried puts more pressure on – but contrary to the course of the game, GAK takes the lead. Michael Cheukoua sees substitute Thomas Mayer centrally in front of the penalty area, the ex-Rieder deliberately puts it from half left to make it 1-0 (75th).

A little later, Leitner prevented Graz’s second goal with a brilliant effort, after Satin’s cross, GAK captain Marco Perchtold rose alone to head the ball, Leitner quickly got his hands up (78th). After a counterattack, Satin also has the chance to make a preliminary decision, but the winter newcomer only hits the post.

The GAK continues to march forward in the table and takes another important step towards promotion. Thanks to the narrow 1-0 win, it now has 51 points – and is therefore 14 points ahead of its current first pursuer, DSV Leoben. SV Ried is fourth in the table with 35 points.
