Mongolian presidential candidate diagnosed with new crown pneumonia and expresses willingness to participate in TV debate online
On June 5, local time, Mongolia’s Ikon.mn news network reported that Mongolia’s 2021 presidential candidate Enkhbat, who was diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia in the early morning of the same day and was hospitalized for isolation and treatment, said in an interview with a media reporter by phone at 16:00 on the same day. I am willing to participate in the television debate of the presidential candidates to be held next Monday (7th) in the form of online video.
Currently, Enkhbat, his wife and others are receiving treatment in isolation at the National Second Central Hospital of Mongolia.
Enkhbart said in a telephone interview that at the beginning of the Japanese presidential election campaign on May 30, he and the other two presidential candidates received nucleic acid tests for the new coronavirus. At that time, his nucleic acid test report was negative, so he was allowed to go to the place to carry out election campaigns.
Enkhbart said that from April 10 to May 8, strict quarantine measures have been implemented in the capital region, prohibiting people from going out, and the implementation period of the measure has been extended again since May 8. He lives about 26 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar. After he received the first dose of the new crown vaccine, he was originally scheduled to receive the second dose on May 30. It coincided with the start of the presidential campaign. He was very busy at work and exhausted. Therefore, the doctor did not recommend him to get the new crown vaccine immediately. He believes that he may have contracted the new crown virus while working at the local level.
According to local media reports, Enkhbat and his wife returned to the capital Ulaanbaatar by plane from Darhanwula Province on June 4 and went to the National Second Central Hospital to be hospitalized for isolation treatment.
