More than 130 activities with Pâkomuzé during the Easter holidays

Global stars (Patti Smith, Sean Paul, Nile Rodgers, Burna Boy), stars of French song (Véronique Sanson, Calogero, Zaho de Sagazan), figures of rap (Booba, IAM), techno (Paul Kalkbrenner) or pop (Mika, Sam Smith): there will be something for all ages from July 23 to 28 at Paléo.

For Radio Lac, programmer Dany Hassenstein takes a look at this edition which will mark the summer.

Patron of the largest open air in Switzerland, Daniel Rossellat unveiled on Tuesday a 47th edition which promises to be “eclectic, rich and colorful”. He promised “a musical abundance”, the organizers having identified 75 different styles or sub-styles. He was also my guest.

Led by Jacques Monnier, the team of programmers reviewed the casting, particularly rejoicing at the arrival of the “legendary” Patti Smith, an “icon who forever changed the history of rock.”

The American will perform on the first evening with another headliner, Burna Boy. The “most famous representative” of afrobeats, “quite rare in Europe”, will give a concert which should be “explosive”.

The “master of dancehall”, a variation of reggae, Sean Paul will also make the Asse plain dance. Just like another Jamaican, Julian Marley, “the son of”, who will cover several hits from his illustrious father.

The “pop” component will be notably embodied by the “flamboyance” of Sam Smith and the “boundless energy” of Mika, who will close the festival. Paléo will also welcome “the hit machine” and “disco-funk boss” Nile Rodgers & Chic.

French song will be represented by “heavyweights” like Calogero and Gims. A big generation gap is also planned with Véronique Sanson, “the magician of the French variety”, and Zaho de Sagazan, whose career has “exploded” in recent months (four Victoires de la Musique in February).

Olivia Ruiz, Christophe Maé, Hoshi and Eddy de Pretto will also represent the French-speaking scene, without forgetting the French-speaking artist of the moment, the Valaisan Nuit Incolore.

“The monument of French rap” Booba will perform for the first time at Paléo, while the “tireless godfathers” of IAM will return to Nyon after 15 years of absence.

Still on the rap chapter, Gazo and Tiakola will give one of their three joint concerts of the year. The Genevan Rounhaa will also be there, as will other representatives of the new generation such as PLK and Luidji.

For electro, Paléo will welcome “a pillar of techno and spiritual father of many artists”, Paul Kalkbrenner. Major Lazer or The Blaze should also “set the mood”. At the same time, the Belleville stage will continue to serve as “a great playground” to present the richness of electronic music.

The World Village – now in its 20th year – will be dedicated to the Balkans with its procession of “festive and lively fanfares” and its most famous representative Goran Bregovic.

Paléo will also perform at the opera with the arrival of “star” tenor Roberto Alagna. He will share the stage with other artists, including the Vaudois mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti. The “neoclassical” pianist Sofiane Pamart will also be at work for an “intimate” concert.

Paléo also wants to make its audience laugh. “The cream of French-speaking comedians”, led by the two Vincents (Veillon and Kucholl), will unveil a “musical and unique show”, inspired by the best moments of the RTS show 52 minutes.

Among other “firsts,” organizers announced “Murmuration,” a “hypnotic” dance performance.

In total, 130 artists and groups will be present, 80% of whom have never come to Paléo before. Some 300,000 spectators are expected. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, March 20 at noon.
