[Epoch Times October 18, 2021](Epoch Times reporter Angel New Zealand compiled a report) On October 17 (Sunday), New Zealand reported 51 new community cases. At the same time, a record 130,000 people were vaccinated on Super Saturday.

The Ministry of Health gave an update on the outbreak in a statement on Sunday afternoon. Of the 51 new cases, 47 were in Auckland and 4 were in Waikato.

As of 9 am, 28 of these cases were epidemiologically related, including 18 household contacts. Another 23 cases are still under investigation. This brings the total number of outbreaks so far to 1945.

Of the four new cases in Waikato, two cases (one in Hamilton and one in Raglan) are known contacts of existing cases, and one of them is already in controlled isolation. Two other cases (one in Hamilton and one in Kihikihi) are under investigation and have not yet been determined to be related to the current epidemic.

The Ministry of Health stated that the Kihikihi case may be the source of the positive Te Awamutu wastewater test, but this has not been confirmed.

Of the 41 cases reported on Saturday, 22 were infectious in the community and had contact incidents.

In the past 14 days, a total of 127 cases have not been found to be associated with existing cases.

A record 130,000 people were vaccinated on Super Saturday. Dr. Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of the Ministry of Health, said, “I will continue to urge all people in Auckland who have not received the first vaccine to get the vaccine as soon as possible. Remember, we will not stop at 90% Level-the higher the level, the better for everyone.”
