Shipwrecked people had already been reported missing
The men, aged around 40, had set out on a boat to fish on Easter Sunday, but never returned from their trip. After relatives reported them missing, the U.S. Coast Guard began searching for them.
In the past there had been a similar case on the island of Pikelot, which belongs to Micronesia. In 2020, sailors were stranded on the island. They were found thanks to a huge SOS call for help painted in the sand.
