Pochettino is relieved that Chelsea has qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino felt relieved that his team had advanced to the sixth round or quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Leeds United with a score of 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, Thursday WIB.

In that match, Mateo Joseph was the only goal scorer for the visitors with two goals (8′) and (59′). Meanwhile, the Blues put three players on the scoreboard, namely Nicolas Jackson (15′), Mykhaylo Mudryk (37′), and Conor Gallagher (90′).

Pochettino was actually not too satisfied with the game his team played when they beat Leeds. However, despite this, he was still grateful for the victory against Leeds after suffering a painful defeat to Liverpool in the League Cup final last Sunday (25/2).

“We needed this result. It wasn’t a good look. “Of course, credit to Leeds, they are a team full of confidence, a very strong team, and are performing fantastically in the Championship and are near the top of the standings,” said Pochettino, reported on the club’s official website, Thursday.

“It’s always difficult when you lose a final in extra time and you only have 72 hours to recover. It’s always difficult. Today the effort was again massive and I have to thank the players for the huge effort,” he added .

One of the winning goalscorers that night, Conor Gallagher, also said the same thing.

Gallagher admitted that he was happy that his team could overcome the disappointment of their fans who arrived at Wembley Stadium in the League Cup final last Sunday.

“Sunday was a very disappointing day and we wanted to bounce back and give the fans something to celebrate. Thank goodness we did it last night,” said the midfielder, who has just scored his four goals for the team this season.
