This first fasting intention is taken from the Talibin Minhajut Kitab and Malay Law. It is explained that the word “Ramadhana” is an ilaihi mudhaf so that it is read as khafadh with the final punctuation in the form of fathah, while the word “sanati” ends with kasrah punctuation as a khafadh or jarr sign for the reason of lil mujawarah.

I intend to fast tomorrow in order to fulfill the obligation of the month of Ramadan this year for God Almighty.

Arab Latin: Nawaitu shauma ghadin ‘an adā’i fardhi syahri Ramadhāna hādzihis sanati lillāhi ta’ālā.

Meaning: I intend to fast tomorrow in order to fulfill the obligations of the month of Ramadan this year because of Allah Ta’ala.

The wording of the intention is found in the Book of Adnal Mathalib. The word “Ramadhana” in the intention becomes an ilaihi mudhaf so it is read khafadh with the sign of fathah, while the word “sanata” ends with fathah as a sign of nashab for its nobleness.

Meaning: I intend to fast tomorrow in order to fulfill the obligations of the month of Ramadan this year because of Allah Ta’ala.

This intention is taken from the Book of Hashiyatul Jamal and the Book of Irsyadul Anam. The word “Ramadhani” is considered an ilaihi mudhaf which also becomes a mudhaf until it ends with a kasrah which is a sign of khafadh or a sign of its jarr.
