One woman was killed and at least 17 other people were injured in an explosion on a bus in western Russia. Local authorities report it. Many of the injured are in serious condition.
“So far there is nothing to indicate that it is a terrorist attack,” the deputy governor of Voronezh, where the explosion took place, Sergei Sokolov, told the Interfax news agency. The bus driver told the state news channel Russia-24 that there were 35 passengers on board.
The explosion, which occurred when the bus was at a stop near a shopping center, ripped off the roof of the vehicle and blew the windows, as evidenced by a video taken by passers-by and posted on social media.
The national commission of inquiry sent experts from Moscow and opened a file on bus maintenance.
