The proof of the devastation of the center of Mariupol comes from the latest images captured by the satellites of the American Maxar Technologies: from the photo we have entire blocks of the city razed to the ground. Images that confirm data collected by NASA that had recorded dozens of explosions near the city.
The area east of the bombed-out theater – where authorities believe 300 people died – is completely in ruins: almost all buildings are missing roofs or have been severely damaged. Same fate for West Mariupol, while another large apartment complex was destroyed in the southeast of the city, not far from the Azovstal factory.
The satellite images also show the survivors of the carnage: outside the metro supermarket in the western part of Mariupol, hundreds of people can be seen in line.
Just to the northeast of the city, however, Russian military posts can be seen, including vehicles parked directly next to the houses. Towed artillery positions are seen just northeast of those vehicles.
